Sharing a photo of the pair on social media, Evanna wrote: "I am so excited. Team Kevanna."

Keo said he was "super excited" to be dancing with the actress and shared a professional shot of the pair in which Evanna can be seen donning a black lace leotard.

Other names taking part in the upcoming series include The Dukes Of Hazzard star John Schneider, Olympic gold medallist Mary Lou Retton and R&B singer Tinashe.

The show is hosted by Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, with judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

Eccentric

It was reported by US Weekly that Evanna (27) was in line to join the new series before the official line-up was announced on chat show Good Morning America.

Evanna is best known to audiences for her portrayal of Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter film series, an eccentric witch who befriends the main characters, Harry, Ron and Hermione, and helps them fight the franchise's villain, Lord Voldemort.

Evanna was a huge fan of the Harry Potter books as a child and wrote fan letters to author JK Rowling.

The Louth woman had little acting experience before she was cast but beat 15,000 other actresses in an open casting call.

She first appeared in the Order Of The Phoenix in 2007, the fifth film in the series, and went on to appear in the next three.

Rowling said in a previous interview that she began to see Evanna in her head when she was writing the final books in the series, more so than any of the other actors.

"I saw her. [She] got in my head. I even heard her voice when I was writing Luna," she said.

Evanna has since starred in movies such as Danny And The Human Zoo and My Name Is Emily.
