A CABRA postmaster is hoping to deliver an historic result and be elected as a TD for the Dublin Central constituency.
Andrew Kelly is the second of eight postmasters to run in the General Election, as the post office network fights back against Government policies that they claim could affect services in local communities.
The Irish Postmasters' Union believes that over 550 post offices could close if more public service transactions are not made through the network.

The campaign is aimed at retaining services - such as social welfare payments - with electronic payments becoming more prevalent.
"We know that when a post office closes it is followed by further local business closures and the heart is torn out of the community," Mr Kelly told the Herald. "We are not a new political party, we are a political group that share the same views as each other."
Another two candidates for Dublin will be announced in the next fortnight.
