Plumber spat at woman garda

AN OUT-of-work plumber who spent the day drinking with friends spat at a female garda when she tried to arrest him for public order offences after he fell asleep in another person's front garden.

Michael Swords (28) lashed out in the back of a patrol car, and the garda van had to be called to bring him to the station.

A judge applied the Probation Act after Swords donated a sum to the Garda Benevolent Fund.

Swords, of Pinebrook Glen, Huntstown, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour on April 11.

He also admitted to assaulting Garda Jennifer O'Brien in a patrol car on Snugborough Road on April 11.
