Petrol price-cut is out

A PROPOSAL to cut petrol prices by up to 5c has been rejected by the Government.

Opposition party Fianna Fail said Dublin motorists could see the benefit of cheaper petrol and diesel prices if the Motorists Emergency Relief Bill was supported.

But Finance Minister Michael Noonan rejected the proposal, saying the €150m cost of the proposal would need to be recouped in some other way.
