Payout to death crash daughters

TWO young girls who were injured in a car crash in which their mother died have settled their High Court actions for damages.

Aislinn and Meabh Reid were passengers in the car which was driven by their father as the family travelled to a family wedding in Co Clare.

Marian Reid, of Sea Park, Malahide, Dublin, lost her life and the girls were injured in the crash on the Nenagh by-pass on June 30, 2004.

Aislinn Reid, who was four at the time of the crash, sued her father, Derek Reid as a result of the accident and settled her action for €155,000. Her older sister Meabh, who was nine at the time, settled for €75,000.

It was claimed the accident occurred when the Reid's family car was in collision with a stationary truck.
