parents want easy access to new reports

Creche inspection reports published on the Government website include hundreds which are several years out of date and parents have no easy way of finding out which reports are the most recent.

Early Childhood Ireland, which represents individuals and organisations across the childcare sector, has criticised the difficulty in accessing the reports on the website.

CEO of Early Childhood Ireland, Teresa Heeney said the majority of the inspection reports "are not up to date and that is not in anybody's interest".

"A parent of a six-month-old child is not concerned with a report from 2011. They want to know what's happening now," she said.

"We need reports online, but we need them to be in a dynamic fashion which is searchable."

She said they had requested a meeting with the new Minister to discuss a whole range of issues and this would certainly be one of them.
