A young biker involved in a high-speed chase with gardai "panicked" when he saw them because he knew he did not have insurance.
Aaron McGovern (20) had taken the motorbike for a test drive. A court heard he drove at 100kph.
Judge John Lindsay adjourned sentencing.
McGovern admitted before Tallaght District Court to dangerous driving as well as driving without insurance and possession of a stolen motorcycle.
Detective Garda Gary Corrigan said he was on patrol at Kiltipper Road on November 2, 2014 when he saw a motorbike cross a grass area.
Gda Corrigan said he indicated for McGovern to stop, but he took off towards Deerpark estate.
McGovern, of Cushlawn Park in Tallaght, mounted a footpath, and undertook two vehicles when he went back on to the road. He failed to stop at a yield sign and drove over a roundabout, before losing control and crashing into railings.
Gda Corrigan said the bike had been stolen a few months earlier.
Defence solicitor Padraig O'Donovan said McGovern, who has no previous convictions, "panicked" when he saw gardai as his insurance did not cover him to ride a bike.
