A suicide car bomber struck a building where police interrogate high-value suspects in Lahore, Pakistan, today, killing at least eight people.
Some 45 others were wounded in what appeared to be the biggest explosion to strike the nuclear-armed, US-allied country in several weeks.
No group immediately claimed responsibility, but suspicion fell on the Pakistani Taliban and allied militant groups responsible for attacks that killed more than 600 people late last year -- a stretch of violence that appeared to be retaliation for a military offensive against insurgents along the Afghan border.
11 dead after Turkey quake
A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6 hit eastern Turkey today, killing at least 11 people.
Governor Muammer Erol said the victims were from the small village of Okcular, where the earthquake destroyed houses.
CNN-Turk television said rescue teams sent to the area were working to save six people trapped under rubble.
At least four of the victims were children, according to the Dogan news agency.
The quake in Elazig province occurred at 4.32am local time and was centred near the village of Basyurt, the Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory said.
