Oz children's author dies

Internationally acclaimed children's author Patricia Wrightson died this week, an Australian official said today.

Wrightson, who was aged 88, was awarded the biennial Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1986 -- the highest accolade for a writer of children's fiction -- given by the Swiss-based International Board on Books for Young People.

Quebec passes new veil law

The Canadian province of Quebec passed landmark legislation that stipulates women will need to uncover their faces when dealing with Quebec government services.

The bill said people obtaining or delivering services at places such as health or car insurance offices will need to do so with their faces in plain view.
