THERE is just over a week left for nominations to be made for the People of the Year Awards.
And hopes are high that Donal Walsh – the inspirational teen who died of cancer last month – will be one of the winners of the prestigious awards.
Donal, who lost his battle with lung cancer last month, has been nominated in recognition for highlighting the fight against cancer and for raising awareness about suicide.
Donal (16), had already been nominated by several prominent groups and many others are sure to add their voices in the next 10 days.
The awards, which are now in their 39th year, honour individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution to Irish society.
Any individual or group can be nominated with the winners joining the ranks of Brian O'Driscoll, Terry Wogan and Bob Geldof, all of whom were honoured in previous years.
To nominate, go online to www.peopleoftheyear.com or contact the People of the Year Awards office for a nomination form on 01 2057397.
