One in four stay in on Saturday nights over cash fears

Almost four out of 10 people are unhappy with their social lives with nearly a quarter saying money worries keep them at home on Saturday nights, according to a poll.

Almost a third said they stayed in every Saturday night and almost four in 10 of the 2,000 people questioned said they liked to stay in because they needed to relax. One in 10 said they did not want to miss their favourite TV shows.

Almost a quarter of those quizzed said they did not go out at all in a typical week.


Saturday was the most popular night to go out, chosen by 45pc, followed by Friday.

Going for a meal was the most popular way to spend an evening out, chosen by 40pc, while 29pc in the UK poll chose going to the pub.

More than two-thirds (68pc) said they did not have a hangover in a typical week but one in five said they had a hangover once a week and 1pc confessed to being hung over more than four times a week.
