Omagh bomb report finished

A Police Ombudsman investigation into the Omagh bombing which killed 29 people will be published imminently.

The Real IRA attack in Omagh 16 years ago was the worst single atrocity of the Troubles. The victims included a woman pregnant with twins.

Ombudsman Dr Michael Maguire's probe into how security force intelligence was disseminated is complete and a report is being compiled.

Relatives of those killed on August 15, 1998, gathered in the Co Tyrone town yesterday for an interdenominational service of remembrance.

The former SAS officer-turned-broadcaster topped a poll ahead of runner-up Ben Fogle.

Other highly-ranked names included Ray Mears at number three, while the late Steve Irwin - who was killed by a stingray while filming a documentary in 2006 - came fourth.

More than 4,000 votes were cast in the survey by RadioTimes.com/Travel.

Parents resort to burning lice

Parents are so desperate to eliminate head lice from their children that many resort to burning the lice with hair straighteners or shaving their child's head, a survey has found.

Vinegar, raw eggs, mayonnaise and even bleach were also revealed as regular "treatment" methods.

One in five parents admitted to shaving their child's head in an attempt to eliminate the lice while another used hair straighteners to pop the eggs and burn the lice.

Nearly a quarter (23pc) of parents turn to the internet for advice on tackling the problem.
