O'Brien to host youth cricket workshop

DUBLIN's youngest cricket players are gearing up for first-hand training from World Cup superstar Kevin O'Brien this week.

The Sandymount native (27) is putting his talents to good use and holding a special Easter camp for up and coming cricketers over the next two weeks.

After his World Cup heroics transformed him into a household name last month, the Dubliner is keeping his feet on the ground and teaching children of all ages the tricks of the trade at Sandymount's Railway Union Cricket Club, where he has trained since he was four years old.

He told the Herald he was keen to see more children involved in the sport and raise some much needed funds for his club's youth section.

"The camp is running until Wednesday, from 10am to 1pm. It's aimed at kids who have never played before," he said.

"We are trying to get more kids involved and raise funds for the youths section of the club."
