Obese teen is cut from house

Emergency workers who needed to take an obese teenager from her home to a hospital had to break through a wall to get her out and into an ambulance.

The rescue involved breaking through the wall on the second floor of the small house in Wales and using scaffolding as a ramp to lower the woman to the ground level, according to the local Rhondda Cynon Taf council.

The unidentified 19-year-old remained in hospital last night and her medical condition was not released.

Neighbours said her weight had risen as high as 60 stone (380kg).

Mum 'gouged

out boy's eyes'

A five-year-old boy whose mother allegedly gouged out his eyes is expected to live, but has been left completely blind.

Mexico City's chief prosecutor said the boy's mother urged others to help her mutilate her son in order "to prevent an earthquake and save the world."

The woman,who was thought to have been on drugs, and seven other people are being held pending charges and the child is in intensive care in hospital.

Israelis are gearing up to get down at Madonna's show as the pop diva landed in the holy land ahead of her world tour.

Fans are dressing up as the superstar at Madonna theme parties in clubs and bars. Madonna isn't Jewish but she has adopted the Hebrew name of Esther and is known in Israel as "Queen Esther"

She is expected to visit holy sites before her "MDNA" world tour kicks off on May 31 in Tel Aviv.

Serbs jailed for

1,000 killings

Two former Bosnian Serb police chiefs have been jailed for 35 and 30 years for the killing of 1,000 Muslim men at a warehouse near Srebrenica in July 1995.

The deaths were part of the worst massacre in Europe since World War Two.

Bosnia's war crimes court found Dusko Jevic (55) and Mendeljev Djuric (52) guilty of aiding and abetting genocide but they were cleared of genocide.
