A DAILY direct flight between Dublin and North Carolina is the first new service announced for Dublin's Terminal 2.
US Airways is to start the direct flights between Dublin and, Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina, from next May.
T2, which is scheduled to open in November, will handle all Aer Lingus flights and those services operated by long-haul carriers from Dublin.
Dublin flights will start on May 6 and end on September 30. US Airways expects to carry 50,000 passengers on the route.
The airline already operates a Dublin to Philadelphia service and says it will have carried more than one million passengers between Ireland and the US by the end of next summer It began flying here in 2003.
Charlotte will become the eighth US city served by scheduled flights from Irish airports.
The city has a humid subtropical climate and is halfway between the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, and between Washington DC and Atlanta, Georgia.
