New team for Spider-Man 4

Marc Webb will direct the next Spider-Man film.

The move follows the departure of Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire, the director and star who worked on the previous three films.

The fourth instalment is set for a 2012 release and will focus on a younger version of the superhero.

Man jailed for slapping child

A Georgia man was convicted of second-degree child cruelty for slapping a crying girl (2) in front of her mum at a US supermarket.

Roger Stephens, of Stone Mountain, was jailed for six months. He had slapped the child to "shut her up".

Indians brand Aussies racist

INDIAN students studying in Melbourne have called for more police action, after a series of violent crimes against their compatriots in the city.

The robberies have led elements of the Indian media to brand Australians racist.

A police spokesperson said they were aware of the crimes against Indians.
