New signing as the Herald joins forces with the AUL

The season is only just kicking off - and already the Herald has scored a winner.

Your super Striker supplement is getting bigger and better after the Athletic Union League joined forces with Dublin's favourite daily newspaper.

The exciting partnership, announced last week, will see fixtures, results and notices appear exclusively in the award-winning Striker supplement every week.

LAUNCH

The AUL, based at Clonshaugh, was the venue for the official launch of the sponsorship programme when the packed audience was informed of the league's return to the pages of the Herald after an absence of some years.

"Once we became aware that the AUL were looking for a media partner we were more than interested," Herald editor Alan Steenson told invited guests.

"I'm delighted that Tony Martin and his executive officers have agreed to this exiting new venture for both parties."

In the coming weeks, the Herald will also launch Striker 2 on Tuesdays, a new 20-page supplement to complement our award-winning Striker on Mondays.

This exciting new development puts the Herald at the forefront of promoting the grassroots game in Ireland.

"The Athletic Union League is a strong Dublin-based league with a history of success. The AUL and the Herald is a good fit for both parties and we look forward to them joining our already established Herald sponsored leagues in Striker," Mr Steenson said.

"The advent of Striker 2 is a sign of our ongoing commitment to promote the game at schoolboy, junior, colleges, women's and intermediate grades.

"The Herald would like to wish all teams the best of success - on and off the pitch this season."
