New ladies' man for Albert Square

Kat Moon is to face competition as a stallholder on EastEnders when an energetic newcomer joins the cast of the hit BBC soap.

Davood Ghadami is to play ladies' man Khoroush 'Kush' Kazemi who heads to the show to play a trader for the Albert Square regulars.

The actor (inset), who has appeared in Casualty, Doctors and Skins, will appear on the BBC1 show from the autumn. Kush is not only mouthy like Kat (Jessie Wallace) but he will also be selling clothing in the market.

"I'm so excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders as I've been a fan of the show for as long as I can remember," Ghadami said.

"It's surreal to get to work with these actors that I've spent so many evenings watching on television."

The soap's executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: "Davood's a brilliant actor and a proper gentleman.

"We've had Kush in our minds for a while now - a new leading man to spice up the market and set some female hearts fluttering. And it won't be long before he has one Walford woman firmly in his sights."
