New funding for start-ups

Venture capital firm Hoxton Ventures is to launch a €6m fund focusing on Irish investments in partnership with Enterprise Ireland.

The company invests mainly in software companies and plans to help Irish start-ups establish links to Silicon Valley.

"Our goal is to invest about $1m to $2m into companies...and bridge them back out into the ecosystem in California," said Hoxton's Hussein Kanji (left).

The venture capital firm has already been meeting Irish entrepreneurs.
