New blow for Ogle in union backlash

WORKERS' representative Brendan Ogle was under fresh pressure today after delegates voted to pull out of the ESB Group of Unions.

Mr Ogle, who is secretary of the ESB body, had angered union members by branding staff at the semi-State "spoilt".

Now, the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU) has informed Mr Ogle it plans to suspend its membership of the group next Friday.

The TEEU move comes after the umbrella body voted to allow him to stay on as head of the group.

Separately, an independent investigation is being carried out into the controversial remarks.

Mr Ogle, who is on secondment from UNITE, is paid more than €80,000 by the ESB.
