Nationwide HQ for sale at 413m

THE former Irish Nationwide Building Society on Dublin's Grand Parade has gone up for sale with a guide price of €13m.

The listed 51-year-old building has seven storeys over a basement and is housed on a site of about 1.7acres.

An apartment scheme is the most likely use for the new owners, though it also has zoning for a hotel, office space and more.

The property is expected to draw much interest, not least because of its proximity to the Luas service.

It has been put on the market by the joint liquidators of lBRC, the former Anglo Irish Bank.

The building is opposite the McConnell House office block, formerly owned by developer Bernard McNamara, which went on the market earlier this year and fetched just €2.5m. Planning permission has since been granted for a much larger building.

The former Irish Nationwide headquarters is one of a large number of assets held by the IBRC that are due to be sold before the end of the year.
