CAR manufacturer Volkswagen has issued a recall notice to motorists who bought their Tiguan model vehicle (pictured right).

The company said 945 cars in Ireland may have been affected by a fault and it has recalled them for a fuse exchange.

It said that its quality assurance team had found that, in isolated cases, a fuse may trip in the Tiguan, resulting in failure of one of the two vehicle light circuits.

This in turn could cause individual light functions to fail.

However, the vehicle's electric circuitry ensures that some lights remain on all around the vehicle. The driver is immediately informed of this on the instrument cluster.

Volkswagen said replacing the fuse would only take a few minutes.
