Morgan's cricket star hubby Graeme gets Irish citizenship

SINGER Morgan Deane is bowled over now that her cricketer husband Graeme Smith is officially Irish.

They flew back to Ireland this week for a whirlwind visit so the captain of the South African test team could pick up his certificate of Irish citizenship.

The pair (inset), who are based in Cape Town, were in Dublin for 48 hours to attend a ceremony of naturalisation in the National Convention Centre.

Morgan (28) said it was "about time" that Graeme (32), who has not had to relinquish his South African citizenship, embraced her country.

"The ceremony was in the morning and then all we wanted to do was catch up with the family. They came up from Cork for the night to see us, which was lovely," said Morgan.

"Afterwards, we listened to old Irish songs that were played by an old guy in Temple Bar. We sang along and the men drank Guinness. It was fantastic fun."

Morgan and Graeme's two children, 18-month-old Cadence and six-month-old Carter, have Irish passports.

The couple had their wedding party in August 2011 in Cape Town.
