More companies moving to online

Half of all large Irish companies and a quarter of small firms now sell online through ecommerce facilities, according to new figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Big Irish companies' ecommerce activities here now account for 44pc of their total revenue, whereas small firms' online sales make up only 13pc of their total sales volume.

The figures also reveal that Irish companies are gradually making the move over to the internet to buy goods and services.

More than two-thirds of large Irish businesses now buy online.

The construction industry lags behind, however, with almost no sales online and modest buying volumes.
