A CASTING assistant who helped choose child actors for Cheaper By The Dozen 2 and other child-friendly movies is a convicted child molester, according to US media reports.
Jason James Murphy (35) served five years in prison for the 1996 crime of kidnapping and molesting an eight-year-old boy and underwent sex-offender counselling.
Murphy registered as a sex offender in California in 2005, but worked under a different name. Los Angeles police say they are now looking into whether he is in compliance with state requirements for sex offenders.
US Idol winner files for divorce
American Idol winner Ruben Studdard is divorcing his wife of three years, saying they have not lived together since last year.
Court records show Studdard filed a contested divorce last week in Shelby County, where he lives in suburban Birmingham.
The complaint said he and Zuri Studdard split in October 2010, and she now lives in the Atlanta suburb of Smyrna, Georgia.
Hells Angels murder trial
A judge in Reno has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the man accused of killing the president of the San Jose chapter of the Hells Angels during a casino shootout.
Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer entered the plea for Ernesto Gonzalez, after Gonzalez's public defender advised him to stand silent during his arraignment in a tightly guarded courtroom.
Gonzalez is accused of shooting Jeffrey 'Jethro' Pettigrew four times in the back during the brawl at a Nevada casino in September.
Japan emperor hospital watch
Japan's royal household says Emperor Akihito has been diagnosed with mild bronchial pneumonia and remains hospitalised for a 12th day.
The Imperial Household Agency said that the emperor is responding to antibiotics. His fever climbed to near 39C but is now falling.
The emperor (77) developed a fever two weeks ago and was admitted into University of Tokyo Hospital on November 6.
