Minister goes on a hospitals visit blitz

Health Minister James Reilly has made a flurry of impromptu visits to the State's most overcrowded hospitals -- however he has yet to set foot in over two-thirds of them.

Dr Reilly called to six of the country's most overrun hospitals last week alone after the Herald revealed his dismal visiting record since taking up office.

Sources close to Dr Reilly said that he was "eager" to view some of the most overcrowded A&E departments just days before putting his name to some of the most severe health cuts in years.
