Migrants boost jobs

IMMIGRANTS in Ireland can act as drivers of the economy, according to new research by the Immigrant Council of Ireland.

University of California sociology professor Ivan Light said that immigrants' language abilities and life experiences mean that they are often well-placed to create jobs. "Historically, migrants have been key agents of enterprise, both for the countries from which they come and the countries to which they move," he said.
