Middle-aged gloom

THE middle-aged are the most insecure group when it comes to financial worries, a new survey has found.

People aged between 45 and 54 are the most pessimistic about their financial futures, the latest Standard Life Index showed.

They scored an average of 45.3 on the index, well below the overall average of 52.1. People between 35 and 44 only scored an average of 49.8. The index rates confidence between zero and 100.
