Michelin-star chef quits as chips go on the menu

Staff at a Michelin-starred restaurant walked out in a row over its menu weeks after winning the accolade.

Head chef Ryan Simpson was "over the moon" when The Goose in Britwell Salome, Oxfordshire, England, was awarded the star in this year's list.

But the 27-year-old was shocked when the owner said he wanted the restaurant to move from serving scallops with veal sweetbreads, to dishing up burgers and chips.

Mr Simpson and the other four members of staff left last weekend, forcing the restaurant to shut its doors.

Owner Paul Castle's spokesman said The Goose would undergo a refurbishment and reopen next month.
