Mel B's husband slams 'disgusting' rumours of abuse

FORMER Spice Girl Mel B's husband has slammed "disgusting" rumours that he had physically abused his wife, amid claims their marriage was on the rocks.

Melanie Brown and husband Stephen Belafonte are at the centre of a storm of rumours about their marriage.

The pair have yet to respond to claims that the X Factor judge has "walked out" of their home.

Mel (39) was absent from the X Factor semi-final due to a mysterious illness.

However, she managed to return to the final (inset, with Louis) which saw Ben Haenow take the crown.

The mum-of-three appeared on the ITV show without her wedding ring, sparking rumours of a split.

X Factor bosses confirmed that Mel was rushed to hospital on Thursday night.

The star was reportedly in agony with stomach pains and there were suggestions that she may have had a serious stomach ulcer.

Her estranged mother Andrea and sister Danielle claimed they had been kept in the dark about where she was.

Mel hasn't been in the public eye for several days and is reportedly being treated in a secret location.

BRUISES

When she appeared on Sunday night's finale of the X Factor, fans were quick to notice a series of small marks and bruises over her arms. These marks may have been caused by the insertion of drips and treatment in hospital, but followers questioned whether she had been abused.

However, her husband Stephen instantly spoke out about these rumours.

"I don't usually respond to Twitter messages but I will respond to comments of hitting my wife which I think are quite disgusting. Untrue," the film producer said.

"Mel was very ill and a bunch of doctors helped her get better.

"If fans can't just relax before being negative they are not real fans."

Melanie and Stephen tied the knot in 2007.

They have a three-year-old daughter Madison together. She has two other daughters, aged 15 and 7.
