THE partner of property developer Kevin McGeever has been laid to rest on her birthday after losing her battle with cancer.

Siobhan O'Callaghan, who stood by McGeever when he was charged with wasting police time after disappearing then turning up again, died this week

She had shared an apartment with and had been financing McGeever, who said that they had been due to get married.

Her funeral took place at the Church of Our Lady of Victories, on Ballymun Road, north Dublin, attended by her distraught partner and family,

The parish priest said there was "something beautiful" about Ms O'Callaghan being laid to rest on her birthday.

McGeever had called his partner of 11 years, "my beautiful darling". "Siobhan was the love of my life," he added.

The 68-year-old developer, of Craughwell, Co Galway went missing in May before turning up on a road in Leitrim in January.

Charged with making false statements and reports, he appeared at Loughrea District Court last month. Judge Geoffrey Brown returned him for trial at the next sitting of Galway Circuit Court.
