Married at last as Brad and Angelina tie the knot in front of their six children

THIS is the luxury chateau where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally tied the knot.

The Hollywood stars wed in an intimate ceremony in Nice last weekend with only their six children as witnesses.

The wedding took place at the Chateau Miraval, the property they bought in 2011. Prior to exchanging vows in the south of France, the couple obtained a marriage license from a California judge, who also conducted the non-denominational civil ceremony in France.

The secret wedding seems to have been a very private affair as Brad's brother, Doug, and his sister, Julie Neal, and their respective families weren't in attendance. It is not yet clear if even Brad's parents, Jane and William, or Angelina's father, Jon Voight, attended the wedding.

The mega-stars got engaged two years ago but hadn't given any inclination that they were going to wed any time soon.

Scramble

There is now expected to be a bidding war in the scramble for any photographs from the day. In 2008 the couple sold the photographs of their newborn twins for a record €7.5m and donated the money to charity.

The couple will star in an upcoming film By the Sea, which will be written and directed by Jolie with Pitt co-starring and co-producing the drama.

This will be the first film the couple will star in together since they played married assassins in Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005.

At the time, Pitt was married to actress Jennifer Aniston but has always denied allegations of cheating. Jolie was previously married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

Jolie, who won a best supporting actress Academy Award in 2000 for Girl, Interrupted, and Pitt, who co-produced the Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave, are two of Hollywood's biggest names. They also are known for their humanitarian work with Jolie serving as a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and Pitt starting a foundation to help restore New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

After a short family honeymoon in Nice, the Jolie-Pitts headed to Malta to start shooting By the Sea. Brad was spotted showing off his wedding ring for the first time on Thursday, at a photocall for his WWII movie Fury.
