A 40-YEAR-old father of three accused of murdering his partner of 21 years has pleaded guilty to her manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court.
Derek Finlay (below), of Knockmore Green, Killinarden Tallaght, Dublin, has denied murdering Noeleen Brennan at their south Dublin home two years ago.
Ms Brennan, who was 38, was found with serious injuries in the house on November 11, 2008 and was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where she later died.
Finlay's plea of guilty to manslaughter was not accepted by the DPP when he appeared in court yesterday.
Worker (100) hurt in shop
US police said a 100-year-old Walmart employee was shoved by a customer after trying to stop the woman to check if she had paid for items that were in the lower part of her shopping trolley.
Lois Speelman fell and went to hospital after she was shoved on Sunday. She said she was bruised but expects to go to work on Thursday.
Ms Speelman declined to answer further questions, saying the investigation was not over.
Kardashians in debit card row
The Kardashian sisters are seeking to cut ties with a venture that sold prepaid debit cards under their name after coming under attack for the card's high fees.
An attorney for the sisters sent a letter to parties affiliated with the card asking them to immediately stop using the names and images of the three sisters.
The notice came after Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal called the card's fees "predatory".
Teen sentenced for gang attack
A TEENAGE girl who took part in a vicious gang attack on a mother and daughter in Dublin after a drink and drugs binge has been spared a custodial sentence.
The girl (17), had pleaded guilty earlier at the Dublin Children's Court to assault causing harm at Tyrconnell Road, in Inchicore on October 21, 2008.
