Manslaughter charge for boy

A 15-year-old boy was due in court today charged with the manslaughter of an elderly couple who died after a blaze at a sheltered housing complex.

The teenager, who is due before magistrates in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, was charged last night with killing Kath and Albert Adams. The boy was arrested last Tuesday, a day after the second of two separate fires which broke out near mobility scooters in Harold Cox Place, Rugby.

Mr and Mrs Adams, both 77, died after the initial blaze, which broke out in the early hours of Saturday, February 27.

Teen quizzed over girl's body

A teenager was being quizzed today over the discovery of a 16-year-old girl's body in a derelict yard.

The victim, named at the scene as Jessie Wright, was discovered in King's Cross, north London, on Thursday afternoon.

Murder squad detectives are questioning a 19-year-old man at a north London police station. Several people at the scene said he was the teenager's boyfriend, but this has not been confirmed by officers.

'Officer killers known in city'

The names of "cowardly criminals" wanted for deliberately mowing down a police officer are "almost common knowledge" in some parts of a city, his grief-stricken family said today.

PC Mike Silcock (30) was knocked down outside a pub in Heaton Mersey, Manchester, a year ago today. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

A £10,000 (€11,120) reward is available for anyone with information that leads to the successful conviction of those responsible.

Tiger bite kills animal keeper

An animal keeper has died after being bitten by a tiger at the Shanghai Zoo.

Chinese state media said the man in his 50s was found in critical condition in the tiger's cage this morning and died soon afterward. It was not clear what he was doing in the cage.

A zoo spokesman confirmed the death but said he had no details. Calls to the zoo's main office were not answered.
