Niccolai Schuster, one of the six victims of the June 16 tragedy, idolised new Manchester United signing Bastain Schweinsteiger who is due to play his second game for the club in tonight's friendly.
Mr Schuster was a Bayern Munich fan and a picture of him alongside Schweinsteiger was widely circulated after the collapse and friends wore Bayern shirts at his funeral in Dublin last month in his memory.
Schweinsteiger paid tribute to the 21-year-old Dublin student in the wake of the tragedy, posting a message on his Facebook page to say the news of the deaths of the students made him very sad. He wished Mr Schuster’s family “a lot of strength for this difficult time”.
Many J-1 students from Ireland are expected to attend the game.
