A man in his 60s was in a critical condition last night after being struck by a Luas in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Gardai are investigating the incident, which happened on the Ballyogan Road in Carrickmines. The man was taken to St Vincent's University Hospital where he was said to be in a critical condition.
The Ballyogan Wood Luas stop was closed for technical examination in the aftermath of the incident, but subsequently reopened. Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.
Separately, gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving two cars that happened at around 9.50am on Saturday at Easton Road, Leixlip, Co Kildare.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the other car, aged in his 60s, was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown with "non-life-threatening injuries".
Gardai at Leixlip are appealing for witnesses.
Meanwhile, in another road fatality over the weekend, a woman in her 20s died at Sligo General Hospital following a single-vehicle crash shortly after 9am on Saturday on the N61 road at Greatmeadow, Boyle, Co Roscommon.
The female front-seat passenger died from her injuries late on Saturday night.
