A MARRIED man accused of having sex with his mentally impaired cousin told gardai he didn't know that she suffered from an intellectual disability.

The Dublin man (50) has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges of having sexual intercourse with a mentally impaired woman between 1992 and 2003.

Garda Sergeant John Crosse said that when he informed the man that his first cousin had made a complaint against him, the accused admitted he was involved in a sexual relationship with her.
