Man on 10 rape charges of girl

A man charged with 10 counts of raping a girl has been remanded on bail.

The man, aged in his 60s, and who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Limerick District Court.

The alleged rapes are alleged to have occurred between April 1, 1994 and October 31, 1995.

The man is also charged with 23 counts of sexually assaulting the girl between November 1, 1991 and December 7, 1993.

The accused, of Limerick City, was remanded on bail.

He is due to appear in court again on October 9 next.


The American soldier charged with killing 16 Afghan civilians during night raids on two villages last year has pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty.

Staff Sergeant Robert Bales entered the plea in a military courtroom to multiple counts of premeditated murder and other charges.

A military judge will question the soldier about what happened before deciding whether to accept the plea.


They're askew and out of focus, but a set of photos taken by a talented Russian chimpanzee have sold at auction for £50,000 (€58,800).

The blurry images of Moscow's Red Square by simian snapper Mikki were part of a sale of Russian photography at Sotheby's in London.

They were snapped up by a Russian buyer.

Mikki, a performer with the Moscow Circus, was trained in the 1990s by Russian artists Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamid.


A Spanish judge has ordered a martial arts instructor to be held in prison without bail while he awaits trial on charges of murdering two women.

Police were called to a gym run by Juan Carlos Aguilar (47). Officers found a 29-year-old Nigerian woman, brutally beaten and in a coma. She died in hospital.

Police also found bones at the gym and at Aguilar's house belonging to a 40-year-old Colombian woman.
