Man facing trial over claims of €5k damage

A MAN has been sent for trial accused of trashing his girlfriend's home during an argument, allegedly causing damage worth more than €5,000.

Stephen Kiely (40) is accused of smashing floors and furniture, pulling out a fireplace and cutting electrical cables to appliances in an alleged incident at the home of his former partner.

He had a book of evidence served on him at Blanchardstown District Court.

Mr Kiely, with an address at the time at Oldbridge Park, Lucan, is charged with eight counts of criminal damage at that address on June 9, 2013.

It is alleged that he damaged property including a TV, fireplace and two-seater couch.

Judge David McHugh sent Mr Kiely for trial to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
