Man caught snooping near car, court told

A homeowner is alleged to have chased after and captured a young man who he saw snooping around his garden and interfering with his car.

Ian Lawlor (23) was allegedly chased out of the garden in Dun Laoghaire, and captured a short distance away.

Judge Ann Ryan adjourned the matter for four weeks to allow Lawlor to speak to his solicitor and decide on a plea.

The defendant, of Bentley House in Dun Laoghaire, appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court charged with criminal trespass, interfering with a car and stealing a jacket, worth €70 at Eglington Park in Dun Laoghaire on February 16.

The court heard the DPP had directed summary disposal of the matter in the District Court.
