Man accused of killing Pole

A YOUNG man has been charged with the unlawful killing of a Polish national.

Cornelius 'Connie' Horgan (28) was accused yesterday at Cork District Court of the manslaughter of Ariel Cegielka (30) on April 17 last.

Horgan of St Vincent's Hostel, Angelsea Street, Cork was previously charged with assault causing harm at Lower Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork on the same date. That charge has been replaced by the manslaughter charge.

Horgan was remanded in custody to appear before the Cork Circuit Criminal Court on November 8 next.

US in missile sale to Kuwait

The US is planning to sell more than 200 Patriot missiles worth some $900m to Kuwait as part of its long-term effort to build up anti-missile systems in the Gulf.

The sale is aimed at defending Gulf allies against potential Iranian missile strikes and to signal to Tehran that aggression would not go unanswered.

Zsa Zsa home after hip op

Zsa Zsa Gabor has been discharged from the hospital where she was treated after breaking her hip.

Her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt said she was back home at their Bel-Air mansion in Los Angeles.

The 93-year-old actress sustained the injury while trying to get into her wheelchair to answer the phone.
