Man (21) dies in car collision

Gardai in Co Sligo are investigating a road traffic collision in which a 21-year-old man died.

The two-car crash occurred on the N17 at Ballinacarrow, Ballymote, at about 9am yesterday. The two vehicles were occupied by drivers only.

Both men were brought to Sligo General Hospital, where the 21-year-old was later pronounced dead.

The road was closed for forensic investigations.

CIA chief quits over love affair

CIA Director David Petraeus, the retired four-star general who oversaw US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, has quit due to an extramarital affair.

"After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair," Petraeus wrote in a letter to CIA staff.

Petraeus (60) said President Obama accepted his resignation yesterday.

Summons over Wiggins crash

A woman who allegedly knocked champion cyclist Bradley Wiggins off his bike with a van has been reported for summons by police.

After a formal interview, Cath Burrows (44) has been summoned by Lancashire Police over driving without due care and attention.

Wiggins, who became the first Briton to win the Tour de France, was taken to hospital with a bruised hand and ribs.
