M&S staff conquer five peaks to boost Ronan's cancer charity

THIRTY-FIVE colleagues have raised €1m for charity by climbing the five highest peaks in Ireland and the UK.

The group spent weeks in training covering 10,000 miles on treadmills, exercise bikes and cross trainers to get in shape for the challenge, to benefit the Marie Keating Foundation by €250,000.

Senior colleagues from Marks and Spencer stores in the two countries joined together to climb Carrauntoohil in Co Kerry, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Peak in England, Snowdon in Wales and Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland as part of the M&S Peaks Charity Challenge.

M&S employees raised the funds that will be donated to the Marie Keating Foundation, Action Cancer in Northern Ireland and Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the UK.

The money was raised by other staff at the M&S stores through activities such as bag packing, face painting and cake sales.
