Lucy and neighbour settle over €38k claim

Former Podge and Rodge presenter Lucy Kennedy has settled a €38,000 claim by her neighbours over an extension to her home.

Ms Kennedy (below), her partner Richard Governey, and the builder they employed to carry out the work, Brendan Shortall, Sallynoggin, Co Dublin, signed up to the confidential deal.

The trio had been sued for €38,000 damages by Ms Kennedy's next-door neighbour, James Curtis, of Coldwell Street, Glasthule, Co Dublin.

Lucy and Richard live next door to Mr Curtis at in the row of two-storey terrace cottages.

Mr Curtis claimed that in September 2006, Lucy and Richard had demolished existing buildings at the back of their home and had Mr Shortall build a two-storey extension.

He alleged that no measures had been taken to protect his property and that workmen used a flat roof in his garden as a platform for demolition and construction work.
