Lowry is 'sound', insists Rosanna's beau

ROSANNA Davison's other half Wes Quirke has defended controversial politician Michael Lowry (57).

The son of businessman Richard Quirke publicly stated his support for the independent TD earlier this week on his Twitter page. "Michael Lowry is sound, stop wasting your time Moriarty," he stated.

Socialite Wes was making his comments on the same day that Lowry made his lengthy address to the Dail where he insisted that he did nothing wrong in the award of the country's second mobile phone licence to ESAT Digifone in 1995.

The politician went on to claim that he has been subjected to 16 years of investigation but has not been found guilty of anything, and whatever further investigations he faces, the result will be the same.

Lowry, who got more than 14,000 votes in the last election, has been one of the chief supporters of an ambitious plan in Tipperary North that has been drafted up by Wes Quirke's father Richard. Last year saw him speak out in favour of his €460m sports and leisure "Las Vegas-style" complex called the Tipperary Venue which he has planned for the county.

Mr Quirke, a former garda, wants to develop and 800-acre site at Two Mile Borris, outside Thurles, and transform the area into a complex which would include a hotel and casino, golf course, entertainment venue, and equestrian centre.
