A lawyer for Lindsay Lohan said the actress will miss a mandatory court appearance today because she is stuck in France.
Attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told Los Angeles channel ABC7 that Lohan's passport was stolen while she was at the Cannes Film Festival.
She said Lohan has an appointment today at the American embassy to replace it.
Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel ordered the 23-year-old actress to appear in a Beverly Hills courtroom for a progress report on her probation stemming from two arrests in 2007.
Lohan has been on probation since pleading guilty to misdemeanour drug charges and no contest to three driving charges.
Ms Revel could issue a bench warrant for Lohan's arrest for missing the hearing.
