LinkedIn moves HQ here

BUSINESS online directory and social networking site LinkedIn has announced that it will locate its international headquarters in Dublin.

The move is the latest from almost 1,000 overseas companies who have chosen the Irish capital as a base for their business in Europe and worldwide.

LinkedIn said that its Dublin base will co-ordinate with teams in its existing London and Amsterdam offices.

The company, which said that it had a growing member base in Ireland, has been expected for several months to announce that it would establish a base here. It said it would continue to centre product development in its Mountain View, California, headquarters.

Kevin Ayres, managing director of LinkedIn Europe, said that the company has nearly tripled its European membership in two years, rising from five million in January 2008 to 14 million now.

"Being based in Dublin gives us access to a highly skilled workforce and enables us to co-ordinate our business growth across Europe and beyond to deliver the best possible service to our members," he said.

Separately, Ad2One has secured the Irish advertising rights for the business networking site LinkedIn.

Ad2One will sell LinkedIn ad space targeted to the Irish market, working with media buyers and advertising agencies.
