Singer Linda Nolan (left) has been given a caution after she was accused of being a benefits cheat.
Nolan (56), who found fame with her sisters (inset), was initially charged with fraudulently claiming about £12,000 (€16,903) after she was said to have failed to declare income from TV appearances and a magazine column.
The UK's Department of Work and Pensions later closed its case against her which left Blackpool Council prosecuting her for failing to disclose her earnings and for the overpayment of housing and council tax benefits, and the council tax reduction scheme.
The overpayment was just over £6,000 (€8,451).
The council yesterday confirmed it had made the offer of a caution which Nolan (Hudson) of Park Road, Blackpool, accepted and has already started repaying the monies.
Steve Thompson, director of resources at Blackpool Council, said: "I can confirm that Linda Hudson has accepted a caution in respect of an overpayment of £6,053 of Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction Scheme discount.
"Blackpool Council takes its responsibilities to the council taxpayer very seriously and prosecutes all cases beyond a certain threshold, where certain criteria are met.
"On this occasion it has been decided that a caution is the most appropriate course of action. The overpayment is currently being repaid."
When the Sunday Mirror revealed the prosecution earlier this year, the singer told the newspaper she had suicidal thoughts and severe depression after losing her husband Brian to skin cancer in 2007 - and her sister Bernie to breast cancer two years ago.
