Let's gear up for city car club

Plans to introduce a Dublin city 'car club' along the lines of the Dublin bike scheme has been boosted by the backing of city councillors.

The new scheme would see a fleet of up to 1,000 cars hit Dublin's streets, with up to 15 people sharing each one.

Once given the go ahead by the council, the scheme would be operated privately. Car club companies will pay 1.5 hours of parking per car per day and the price of parking in on-street spaces will be included in the membership fee.
