'Knuckles and knife thrown away'

A MAN threw away a knuckle duster and flick knife when gardai saw him involved in a row in a city street, a court heard.

William Gifford (37) fled the scene and discarded both weapons in the basement of an off-licence, but gardai retrieved them.

Judge Anthony Halpin adjourned the case against him for the production of a pre-sentence probation report at Dublin District Court.

Gifford, with an address at Cedar House, Marlborough Place, Dublin 1, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of the weapons at Summerhill on September 15, 2010.

He admitted public order charges in a separate incident in which he became violent towards gardai who stopped a car he was a passenger in at Camden Street on June 5, 2011.

He was remanded on bail.
